Counterly - a Knitting App
I designed the user interface for this row counting app in Figma.
Overview
Knitting involves a surprising amount of math. It’s very common when making garments to have to increase or decrease stitches at different rates for an extended number of rows. A knitting row counter is an efficient way to track and save progress over an extended period of time.
Because garments like sweaters can take weeks or months to knit, Counterly also offers integrated pattern information storage so you can find the patter PDF and relevant details all in one place.
LINKED COUNTERS
Counterly contains both a basic global counter for tracking the overall number of rows on a project and the option to add multiple sub-counters.
The counters have an expanded and collapsed view so that a user can easily see all of the counters they have added to a project.
Sub-Counters can be set up to reset after X number of rows and repeat X number of times. They can be linked to the global counter or linked to each other. This is incredibly useful when a user needs to change the rate at which they are decreasing or increasing stitches in a pattern.
Project Overview
Knitting projects can take weeks or months to finish. Counterly contains an info page for each project to store pertinent information such as needle size and yarn weight. It also has a notes section for keeping track of any changes made to the pattern.
Each project page also features a timer to track how long a project takes to finish.
This makes it easy for the user to pick up right where they left off, no matter how long it’s been.
PDF Viewer
Most knitters buy downloadable PDF patterns for their projects. Counterly will store project PDFs so users can easily access them on the go.
